How this site handles data

The Day Rate Report publishes data and runs no forms, calculators or products.

It collects very little personal data. This notice explains exactly what, why, and the rights you have.

No cookies, no advertising trackers, and nothing to click away.

Last updated 9 October 2026.

Who we are

This site, The Day Rate Report, is published and maintained by the Rate Sorted team.

We are responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at press@thedayrate.co.uk.

What we collect and why

Three things, and nothing else.

Server logs

Like almost every website, when you visit, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information: your device's IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and your browser type.

This keeps the site available and secure. We rely on our legitimate interest in running and protecting the site.

Emails you send us

If you email us, we process your email address and whatever you put in your message, so that we can reply.

We rely on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.

Visit counts

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records the page, the site that sent you, your browser and device type, your country and how fast the page loaded.

Cloudflare receives each visit as it happens and counts it, and we see the totals only.

We rely on our legitimate interest in finding the pages readers leave too soon, so we can improve them.

You can object to this at any time, for free, by switching it off for your device in the cookies section below.

Who else sees it

We share data only with the suppliers who help us run the site: our hosting provider, Netlify, the service that counts visits, Cloudflare, and our email provider, which handles messages you send to us.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Data leaving the UK

Our hosting provider, Netlify, Inc., is based in the United States, so the technical log data described above may be processed there.

Netlify is certified under the UK Extension to the EU to US Data Privacy Framework, known as the UK to US data bridge, and its data processing agreement also uses the UK approved contract clauses.

Either route is a lawful way to transfer the data under UK data protection law.

Cloudflare, Inc., which counts visits, is also based in the United States.

Cloudflare states that it is certified under the same UK Extension, and that its data processing addendum also carries standard contract clauses as a second lawful route.

How long we keep it

Access logs are kept only for the short period our hosting provider retains them for security and diagnostics.

Emails are kept only for as long as we need them to deal with your message, and then deleted.

Visit counts are kept by Cloudflare for as long as its Web Analytics service holds them, a period Cloudflare sets, and we keep no copy of our own.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • correct it if it is wrong
  • delete it
  • restrict or object to how we use it
  • where it applies, receive it in a portable form

To make a request, email press@thedayrate.co.uk.

We will respond within the time the law allows, normally one month.

No automated decisions

We do not make any automated decisions about you, and we do not profile you.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first at press@thedayrate.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond without undue delay.

If you are still unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or by the post or phone details on that site.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date below.
